Calmodulin is a calcium dependent protein containing 6-8 coordinate ligands. It is made up of a helix turn helix where 4 calcium ions bind to the pocket which activate it. When active, it sequesters kinases which have amphipathic helices such as cam-dependent protein kinases and allows the ATP to enter and become phosphorylated (activated).
