The client with a diagnosis of lung cancer is scheduled to have a liver scan and asks why this procedure is being done. What is the nurse’s best response?
A.   “Cigarette smoking can also cause liver cancer.”
B.   “Some treatments are toxic to the liver and it is best to test liver function before these treatments are started.”
C.   “The treatment for lung cancer is different if it has spread to the liver than if it is confined to only the lungs.”
D.   “An enlarged liver can interfere with cancer therapy, so the doctor wants to make certain of the liver's size and position before therapy is started.”
