The nurse was employed by a public health agency. During orientation the supervisor informed the nurse that all nurses were legally covered because the agency had its own malpractice/negligence insurance.

What, if anything, should the nurse do about liability insurance?

  A. Ask to see a copy of the policy and be sure it totals at least 1 million per occurrence.
  B. Continue to carry personal liability insurance for self-protection.
  C. Express gratitude, because malpractice insurance costs about 100 a year for an RN.
  D. Stop worrying about negligence and lawsuits and concentrate on doing the very best nursing possible.
