Define genotype and phenotype please! I'm having a hard time understanding the difference of these! Thank you!

Phenotypes are the physical traits (ex.brown hair)
Genotypes are the alleleic traits (ex. Bb)

I will start with Genotype. The genotype is the genes located on your chromosomes. The genes made of alleles which dominate or recessive will be the information use to produce your phenotype, though not all alleles are phenotypes! Say you have Xx for your alleles and X is dominate for purple eyes. Because it is dominate it is used to give you purple eyes, the phenotype.

Genotype tells you the genetic constitution of an organism at a locus... for instance, something that is heterozygous has a genotype of two different alleles -- e.g., IA IB (human blood groups). Genotype is typically expressed in symbols.

Phenotype is the outward appearance of characteristics caused by the genotype -- so in the case of the human blood group above, someone who is IA IB has type AB blood. Phenotype is a product of both the alleles present in the organism and the environment -- for instance, you might have alleles for freckles -- but if you never go out in the sun or aren't exposed to UV light, you won't develop freckles.

Phenotype is the trait/character that is expressed or seen eg:black colour of hair, brown colour of hair etc.
Genotype is the genetic code for a particular phenotype.
Eg: black hair which is a phenotype can have genotype both:BB orBb
assuming black hair is B and it is dominant.

phenotype is the appearance that is visible, and genotype is a code that for a phenotype. Different genotype can have the same phenotype

Phenotype are physical characteristics as opposed to genotype is the genetic makeup of a cell.
