During the nurse’s preoperative assessment, the nurse notices that the patient is extremely anxious. The patient’s blood pressure is 142/92 mm Hg, heart rate is 104 per minute, and respirations are 1)  The nurse should:
1.   go ahead and give the preoperative medicine early to help calm the patient.
2.   call the operating room and cancel the surgery.
3.   notify the anesthesiologist or surgeon.
4.   instruct the patient on possible postoperative complications.
