The older patient who sustained a fractured hip and femur in a motor vehicle accident is to be in Russell’s traction for several weeks, so the nurse will focus care on:
1.   offering frequent distractions.
2.   encouraging nutrition.
3.   pain relief.
4.   prevention of DVT.
