A woman calls the clinic office and asks the nurse why she is having spotting during her monthly cycle when she is taking birth control pills. The nurse’s most appropriate response would be:
1.   to remember to take the pill the same time each day.
2.   that irregular spotting is to be expected with oral contraceptives.
3.   that the pills are still safe and to continue to take them regardless.
4.   that physicians are still uncertain as to how oral contraceptives function.
