An infant is admitted to the emergency room for injuries. The infant has several bite marks on his arm and bruises and welts noted on his upper back. The mother explains that the baby leaned over and fell out of his stroller.

The injury history does not explain the injury. The described situation is typical of physical abuse. Sexual abuse would require further assessment. Emotional abuse has less obvious signs. Munchausen's by proxy has symptoms only seen by the caretaker.
