Most victims feel they cannot escape the abusive environment and feel hopeless. Hopelessness and helplessness are indications of depression. Answering questions appropriately and speaking clearly and distinctly are not common behaviors for victims of abuse. Most victims of abuse do not have numerous friendships and subsequently experience social isolation.
