Accuracy is very important in self-regulation. If you are overconfident, you might stop studying prematurely. If you are under-confident, you might make inappropriate modifications. Students who are accurate are much more likely to perform well academically. Students are generally not very accurate, often displaying an overconfidence sometimes referred to as illusions of competence.
