Gene duplication can occur for both protein coding and regulatory regions of genes. Imagine that the yellow gene and both enhancer regions in B are duplicated. Propose a mechanism for how subfunctionalization might occur.

ANS:
If the wing enhancers binding sites were lost for one copy, and the abdomen enhancers for the other, then the two resulting genes would be expressed in different tissues and will have divided their function. One gene would produce the wing spot and the other would produce the abdominal color.
