Hello guys, wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions i've stumbled upon...

what dictates the choice of template strand that is used in transcription? would it be RNA polymerase itself or other mechanisms such as additional protein factors?

Also wobble base pairing; does this occur only between the first position in the codon, and third position in the anticodon?

Thanks a lot in advance,
F

For any given gene, either strand of the double-stranded DNA may function as the template strand. What ultimately determines which DNA strand serves as the template strand is the base sequence of the gene's promoter.

The wobble theory only relates to the last nucleotide of the triplet.
