Young rats that undergo that procedure show the typical effects of juvenile diabetes. But the rats that were given daily doses of Sorbinil in their food developed nearly normally. The drug's effect on their eyes was dramaticthe retina had not deteriorated, as it had in rats that had not been given Sorbinil.
