A working knowledge of research is critical for social workers in their work, because it allows them
  to:

  a) Participate in evaluation studies as research assistants, interpret and use data to secure funding and
  support new evidence-based program development.
  b) Get promoted into high-level research positions and have a larger, more influential position in the
  social work community.
  c) Graduate with a degree, as policy evaluation classes and internships are now requirements in any
  school of social work.
  d) Manipulate the data and statistics in order to leverage the information with legislators and secure
  program funding.
