A cost effective way that smaller interest groups with little money can support a candidate would be
  to:

  a) Provide an endorsement for the candidate in a safe district
  b) Run a grapevine campaign smearing the opposing candidate through rumors in their district
  c) Run a poll for the candidate they support in order to determine approximately what percentage of
the vote their candidate is likely to capture.
  d) Seek out rallies held by the opposing candidate and crash them.
