Which of the following is NOT a component of the connective tissue matrix?
1. Glycosaminoglycans
2. Fibroblasts
3. Elastin
4. Collagen
5. Water

The answer apparently is 4 (collagen). I understand that blood has no tensile strength and thus is the answer

Also I understand that fibroblast is involved in proliferation of a wound, but I would like to know more details about
its function in the blood (as all I understand is that it is migratory and creates collagen for fibers of the connective tissues)

Another thing is ELASTIN, I have no clue what elastin's function in the blood, as all i know is that it has a good tensile strength and can be returned into original size after being stretched.

So i would like to know the FUNCTIONS of ELASTIN and FIBROBLAST in the BLOOD.

Isn't collagen is a main component of connective tissue?

Yes, BUT all the 5 of them are.
Hence the most likely answer is collagen out of those 5
AS BLOOD DOESN'T HAVE COLLAGEN (it doesn't need the tensile strength)

Therefore, I wanted to know the function of fibroblast and elastin in THE BLOOD (the liquid connective tissue)

p.s. this question was actually from a past paper and thus the answer is 100% correct

Thanks for the update, I personally would have chosen water.
