Hello, happy to be part of these help forums.

Firstly, hardest puzzle ever to register on these forums. WOW. Took me 30 minute to figure out the pictures need to be correctly positioned down to up, not facing vertically from left to right.

Okay now for the question, haha. So I'm having troubles with dihybrid crosses. I understand the concept of actually making the 4x4 table and what not, say, YyRr x YYRr, I use the 1 -> 1 -> 4 and 2 ->3 2->4 rule for each cross and then make a table, and get the combinations, but for the phenotypical ratio I get confused.and for the % (my teacher ask for a percent too).

Say we have:

How does one get from: 1BBAA : 1BBaa : 1bbAA : 1bbaa : 2BbAA : 2Bbaa : 2BBAa : 2bbAa : 4BbAa

to

9 Brown Eyes with Free Earlobes : 3 Blue Eyes with Free Earlobes : 3 Brown Eyes with Attached Earlobes : 1 Blue Eyes with Attached Earlobes

Do you group dominants & recessives together or something? What would be the % here?

It's my first year taking Biology and I don't want to mess up on my End of Course Exam.

Thanks.

1BBAA = 1 Brown eyes with free earlobes
4BbAa = 4 Brown eyes with free earlobes
2BbAA = 2 Brown eyes with free earlobes
2BBAa = 2 Brown eyes with free earlobes

1+4+2+2 = 9 Brown eyes with free earlobes
9/16 = 56.25%

2bbAa = 2 Blue eyes with free earlobes
1bbAA = 1 Blue eyes with free earlobes

2+1 = 3 Blue eyes with free earlobes
3/16 = 18.75%

2Bbaa = 2 Brown eyes with attached earlobes
1BBaa = 1 Brown eyes with attached earlobes

2+1 = 3 Brown eyes with attached earlobes
3/16 = 18.75%

1bbaa = 1 Blue eyes with attached earlobes

1 Blue eyes with attached earlobes
1/16 = 6.25%

Thanks for the reply Slight Smile

I see,

You counted them all as Brown eyes w/ free earlobes because B and A are dominant in all of them? What if there was Bbaa or BBaa? They would both count as Brown eyes and attached earlobes?

Think I'm starting to get it.

Yes B and A are dominant so Bb or BB would be brown eyes and Aa or AA would be free earlobes.
Bbaa and BBaa would both be brown eyes and attached earlobes.

The reason aa is attached is because there isn't an A so the obvious response is attached correct?
