Three-dimensional modeling of the viruses, drugs, and host cell receptors allow for the in silico prediction of how certain drug chemicals can interfere with the virus from binding to the host cell receptors. If the receptors can be completely blocked, viruses when exposed to the drug will not be able to infect the host cells and cause the common cold.
