How do mycoplasmas lacking cell walls exist as living cells in the environment? How do they accomplish containing all of the necessary cytoplasmic components?

Mycoplasmas lack a cell wall but still have a cytoplasmic membrane to enclose cellular components. Their cytoplasmic membrane is unique in that it contains sterols, which provide the membrane with increased rigidity.
