Outline the various methods of gene regulation in eukaryotic cells. Include chromatin, transcriptional,
posttranscriptional, translational, and posttranslational levels of regulation. What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

Answer to q. 1

Answers should resemble concepts discussed in Figure 14-7

Answer to q. 2

Genetic inheritance refers to the inheritance of genetic sequences from the parents; any
sequence differences may affect protein structure and/or function. In contrast, epigenetic
inheritance refers to the inheritance of DNA modification patterns (for example, DNA
methylation) which affect gene expression. Identical twins with identical DNA sequences
may have different phenotypes due to gene expression, which may be the result of
differential DNA modifications.
