Answer to q. 1

High blood sugar stimulates the beta cells of the pancreas to secrete insulin which reduces blood sugar
levels. When blood levels drop, pancreatic alpha cells produce glucagon to increase blood sugar.

Answer to q. 2

The action of the parathyroid glands is an example of negative feedback in the endocrine system. The
parathyroid regulates the calcium concentration of the blood. When serum calcium levels drop below
the normal range the parathyroid glands are signaled to produce parathyroid hormone which increases
serum calcium levels. When those calcium levels are above normal, the parathyroid glands decrease
production of parathyroid hormone.
