Desmosomes consist of discs associated with plasma membranes of adjacent cells. These junctions
cement cells together and provide potential pathway for signal transmission.
Tight junctions are tight connections between plasma membranes, and they seal body cavities.
A gap junction bridges the space between cells. Gap junctions connect cell and form a communication
system.
Plasmodesmata are functionally equivalent to animal gap junctions
