Answer to q. 1

ANSWER: d

Answer to q. 2

ANSWER: Answers should be similar to this. In inherited autosomal recessive traits if both parents are
heterozygous carriers any child of theirs will have a 50 chance of being a carrier and 25
chance of being a homozygous recessive affected child. In an autosomal dominant trait, the trait
appears in each generation because the dominant allele is expressed in the heterozygous form. If
one parent is heterozygous and the other homozygous recessive, there is a 50 chance any child
of theirs will be heterozygous affected child. Panel a is autosomal recessive, panel b is autosomal
dominant.
