Which procedure do you think will work better on deactivating the tongue's taste buds temporary? Drying or Numbing with ice? & Why?

It is actually the cold that deactivates your taste buds. The reason why the tongue numbs when it is exposed to ice is because ice prevents the blood from reaching the tongue. Ice causes vasoconstriction in the tongue; this means that it physically narrows blood vessels and thereby slowing the flow of blood. This is the same reason we use ice during certain injuries; to prevent blood from reaching the area of injury and reducing inflammation.
