Suggested Responses: Students should describe how thinking shifts from purely reflexive behavior at birth, to circular reactions, to early causal thinking, then to internal, reflective problem solving by age two. They should comment on key abilities which emerge over time - object permanence, causal thinking, imitation, and the use of internal images. They should describe a general trend from pure action to more internalized and creative thought in problem solving.
