I think the opposite is true: the location dictates the design. If you're building in the city center, you'll need to build one that's narrow, and takes as little space as possible. Maintenance is another issue. Most window cleaners, for example, have equipment for tradition building designs, not for walls that are angled, as in the case of a pyramid. The elevators for a pyramid would have to be situated in the middle so that they can reach every floor. Check out the Luxor hotel in vegas, it's really cool
