Why did future rulers find Justinian’s body of civil law attractive as a foundation of their own jurisprudence?
I.   It outlined the basic responsibilities of each citizen.
J.   It protected basic civil rights.
K.   The main point was to bring subjects under a single authority.
L.   There were provisions for different sorts of democratic systems.
