List and discuss two aspects of the history of each group portrayed in chapters 7, 8 and 9 that might contribute to its members' current perceptions of (and relations with) the police. In other words, list/discuss two ways the history of these groups has affected relations with law enforcement. In addition, discuss aspects of the communication style of these groups (both verbal and nonverbal) of which police officers and other law enforcement and criminal justice personnel should be aware of in their day-to-day interactions.

Latinos/Hispanic Americans have experienced corrupt, tyrannical/military, type law enforcement in their home country. In the United States many have dealt and still to this day with racial profiling, “many incidents of racial profiling in policing have been recorded in recent history” (Shusta). The stereotypes such as, all Latinos are gang members, drug dealers, illegal aliens, or uneducated does not make the bestargument for them to cooperate with law enforcement either. When it comes to communication with Hispanics/Latinos law enforcement personnel must be aware of the possible language barrier, it is smart to have a bilingual officer if at all possible when working a community with many of one culture.
