What is the difference between the  vascular cylinder of roots and vascular bundles of leaves and stems? Are they both considered stele? What is the difference in how the xylem and phloem are arranged?

What is the difference in how the xylem and phloem are arranged?

The key difference between xylem and phloem is that xylem is the tissue that conducts water and minerals throughout the plant body while phloem is the tissue that conducts sugar (foods) around the plant body.

Xylem and phloem in stems
In eudicots, vascular bundles are arranged in a ring within the stem. Each vascular bundle is orientated with the xylem on the interior and the phloem on the outside of the xylem. In monocots, the vascular bundles are scattered throughout the stem rather than being arranged in a circle.

In monocots, the arrangement of the vascular bundles are scattered through the stem. in eudiocots, the vascular bundles are arranged in rings.

hope it helps Slight Smile
