On a certain planet an object of mass m is moving with an initial speed of 4 m/s. It comes to rest after traveling a horizontal distance of 10 m. If the coefficient of kinetic friction between the object and the surface is 0.2, what is the value of g on that planet?
A) 4 m/s2
B) 6 m/s2
C) 8 m/s2
D) 10 m/s2
E) 12 m/s2

Kinetic energy = frictional losses
(1/2)mv^2 = uN *d
Where N is normal force = mg

(1/2)mv^2 = u(mg)d

Substituting and solving for g (Note m divides out)
g = (1/2)v^2 / [ud]
g = (1/2)(4.0)^2 /[(0.2)(10.0)]
g = 4.0 m/s^2 ; Answer A
