Referring to following link, I would like to know on why cat do not get overwhelm by their superb night vision and responding to the smallest of sounds on daily activity, How do they control their sensitivity within changing environment without getting overwhelm?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It's called adaptation. You know when you step into a restaurant, the smell is strong at first, but eventually you stop smelling it? The same with animals, their brain cancels out the noise if the sound isn't affecting their survival.
