The quarantine created doubt, stress, and serious socioeconomic distress. The quarantine caused me to doubt our health system; we were told that our hospitals wouldn't be able to accommodate all the sick, hence being in quarantine would be crucial to our survival. It created stress within the household, because not only were we not able to work, but being in close proximity with those we love actually created a rift. Some of us live in closed corners, such as small apartments or condos, and not being able to leave the condo or use the facilities was difficult to cope with - this is likely what it feels like to be a caged animal. Finally, work that was deemed non-essential forced many of us to stay at home; small business owners and mom-and-pop shops were forced to remain closed, while big-box stores like Home Depot and Walmart had the means to stay open. Those business profited immensely during this time, while the middle-class had no choice but to stay closed and likely go bankrupt.
