Good evening, this is Brian. I was eating a fillet of smoked black cod/sablefish and I came across this organism that seemed to be a parasite, possibly a roundworm. As this was quite unsettling, I took some photos and thought I’d see if you guys can help me find out what it is. The specimen has a little fish flesh atop it so I hope the images are clear enough.

Looks like a round worm.

Anisakid roundworms are the most common type that affect marine fish. I'm convinced that's what it is, throw it away, and luckily you didn't eat it
