Mr. Jacobs went to his daughter’s physician for mild asthma while visiting her home in California. He questioned the arterial blood gas result when he was told that his partial pressure of oxygen (PO2) level was 95 mm Hg. His typical PO2 level at home in Denver is 70 mm Hg. Why does such a dramatic difference exist?
