For instance, the subtropical highs over land are associated with bright, dry weather and light/variable winds. Over land they are associated with the hottest temperatures on Earth.  The Intertropical Convergence is a low-pressure trough fed by trade winds. It has light/variable winds but considerable cloudiness and huge amounts of precipitation.
