It would seem that nearly all people would be unable to engage normally in sexual activities in the strange, clinical environment of a sex lab. How did Masters and Johnson try to solve this potential problem?

▸ They created the lab to look like an average household bedroom.

▸ They met with participants many times to discuss their discomforts and reassure them about the nature of the study.

▸ They primarily recruited prostitutes who were less concerned about the sexual setting.

▸ They allowed and encouraged participants to engage in sexual activity in the lab setting until they felt comfortable enough to be observed there.
