1) Hashimoto's disease Is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks the thyroid gland, preventing it from functioning property. Often times, a very large number of white blood cells will accumulate in the thyroid gland and result in hypothyroidism.
In order to counteract the symptoms of Hashimoto's disease, patients will be given
• a. thyroxine medication to increase the levels of TRH and TSH
• b.
excess iodine to increase the levels of TRH and TSH thyroxine medication to decrease the levels of TRH and TSH
• d. excess iodine to decrease the levels of TRH and TSH
