Tempers erupt during the holiday season when the passengers of an airline are told that the flight has been
overbooked.  Trevor’s response illustrates displacement, whereas his brother Greg’s response illustrates
regression.  Describe the scene at the airport by giving an example of each boy’s reaction.

Trevor is angry at the airline, but rather than directing his anger toward airline representatives he takes it out on everyone around him, especially his brother.
Greg begins to act very dependent, asking Greg what they should do.  Should they call their parents?  He can’t seem to make a decision and just sits and waits for someone else to tell him what to do.
Trevor is displaying the defense mechanism of displacement; Greg’s behavior illustrates regression.
