MRIs are used to try to measure average sex differences in brain activity when people work on particular tasks.
In the rhyming study, people were asked to say whether pairs of nonsense words rhymed.
In both sexes the front of the left hemisphere was activated.
In most of the women, but none of the men, the corresponding area in the right hemisphere was also active.
Another study of men and women listening to a John Grisham novel had similar results.
