b.   “Water-soluble vaginal lubricants may provide relief.”

When estrogen levels are low (whether menopause or not), the vaginal tissue shrinks and becomes thinner which causes dryness and sometime inflammation.  Using water-soluble lubricants is best because petroleum or oil based products can damage latex condoms or diaphragms and in some women can cause yeast infections.
