I have been trying to figure this question, and tired about three times, but cannot figure it out!

I really appreciate it!

The person’s distance from the equator is the same in all cases (40° latitude either north or south), so the only thing that affects the amount of daylight is time of year, with longer days in summer and shorter days in winter. For example, the first figure is ranked as least amount of daylight because the person in the figure is in the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere is tipped most directly toward the Sun so it is winter for the person in the figure and that means less daylight.
