I was just wonering when I write out the genotype ratio for a P1 = YySs x YySs do I just write it out as 1:2:1:2:4:2:1:2:1 or would I have to include the genotype as well? Or am I completely out of the ball park there?

Well, this is a dihybrid cross in which your male and female gametes would be the following:

YS, Ys, yS, ys

Draw out a punnett square and you should end up with 16 outcomes.

This is what I got as the outcomes:

1/16 YYSS

2/16 YYSs

2/16 YySS

4/16 YySs

1/16 YYss

2/16 Yyss

2/16 yySs

1/16 yySS

1/16 yyss

I think I got the same answer as you.  You're ratio is absolutely correct.  I don't think it really matters how you order your numbers as long as you have the right amount of each number.  For example, in this case, there are four 1's, four 2's, and one 4.  However, when you list the individual genotypes for various purposes like finding the fraction of a particular genotype, you should get into the habit of listing each genotype as a fraction as I did above.

Hope this helps!  :-)
