Watson thought you learned to love another person when that person was paired with stroking and cuddling.
The unconditioned stimulus and unconditioned response are stroking and cuddling, causing pleasant feelings.
The person who does the stroking and cuddling becomes the conditioned stimulus triggering a conditioned response of love (pleasant feeling).
