The authors compare these two books (Learning to Labor and Ain’t No Makin’ It) and conclude:
A.   Willis’s use of theory is too dogmatic.
B.   MacLeod’s use of theory is the most effective.
C.   Both authors “use too much theory” and therefore their studies are abstract and confusing.
D.   It is a matter of taste—both approaches are acceptable.
E.   Neither sociologist has made an effective use of theory.
