Trace a drop of blood as it enters the vena cava and travels through the heart and body. Include the major vessels and the heart chambers and valves in your answer.

De-oxygenated blood enters from the body through the vena cava into the right atrium of the heart. The blood then passes through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. The de-oxygenated blood then is pumped through the pulmonary valve, into the pulmonary artery, and to the lungs where gas exchange takes place in the capillaries of the alveoli. The now oxygen rich blood is then pumped back to the heart via the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium. The blood is then pumped through the bicuspid valve into the left ventricle where the blood is then ejected through the aortic valve into the aorta and down through the body and extremities.
