To access this information, enter MyPsychLab and click on Index of Multimedia. Once in the multimedia library, select chapter 4. Check the "select all" box and click "find now." Under "Watch" locate and click on Lucid Dreaming.

The NovaDreamer is a high-tech mask that is supposed to allow for lucid dreams. It picks up on the eye movements associated with REM sleep and then flashes red lights. These lights are intended to indicate to the individual that he/she is dreaming, so lucid dreams can begin. The lights are not strong enough to wake the individual entirely. The supposed advantages to lucid dreaming are opportunities for learning, an overall increase in awareness, and opportunities to practice skills that were learned. However, skepticism still remains.
