Kohlberg’s original research on morality was based on male subjects only. Thus, his theory of moral development was built upon information from males. Kohlberg went on to say that most men attain level four of his morality theory whereas women only attain level three. Morality researchers (such as Carol Gilligan) claimed that his research was/is sex biased.
