Neo-Freudians were a group of followers or students of Freud for a period of time, but then disagreed with him on certain points of the psychoanalytic theory. These points of contention varied somewhat between theorist, but the main point is that they agreed with some of Freud’s theory, just not all of it. Thus, they all built their respective theories on what they saw as the strengths of Freud’s theories. Well-known Neo-Freudians include Karen Horney, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler.
