A 2kg flower pot weighing 20N falls from a window ledge. How large must air resistance be in order that the pot fall with an acceleration of 8 m/s^2.

F = m * a = 2 * 8 = 16 N

Gravity force on pot (weight) = 20 N (given in question)

Air resistance must be 16 – 20 = –4 N (upwards)
