Is this statement accurate? For 2005, the Nation’s top 5 auto manufacturers, GM, Ford, Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan, alone spent $12.3 billion on advertising and marketing, most of it spent advertising SUVs, trucks and luxury cars.  Does such advertising play any role in influencing the type of vehicles that consumers purchase? State your assumptions and justify your answer.
